New Reading Comprehension Program Now Available
Making Connections™ – Explicit Instruction for Comprehension Skills and Strategies for Grades 1–6

Cambridge, MA, March 15, 2006 — Educators Publishing Service (EPS) recently introduced Making Connections™, an innovative new reading comprehension program that teaches vital reading skills while weaving in the comprehension strategies recommended by the National Reading Panel.

“Making Connections provides educators with explicit, scaffolded instruction and high-interest student materials to help children become active, strategic readers,” noted Gunnar Voltz, President of EPS. “As such, they will able to construct meaning as they read a wide range of narrative and informational texts.”

Each Making Connections Student Book includes high-interest informational and narrative reading selections designed for active, strategic reading and identification of specific comprehension skills.  Students Books are full-color, incorporating a wide variety of illustrations and photographs to capture student interest.

The Teacher’s Editions offer explicit instructional plans in a wrap-around format, and provide scaffolded instruction with point-of-use teacher strategies and techniques, as well as reproducible assessments.

The Making Connections Comprehension Library is an integral part of the program. Each title in the 34-book library provides a capstone experience for students to celebrate their progress and reinforce skills and strategies in longer texts. The Comprehension Library includes a wide variety of high-interest informational and narrative texts; each full-color title corresponds to a comprehension skill in the Student Book.

Classroom sets are available between $100 and $200 and include a Teacher's Edition, 25 Student Books, and one Reader Library. Materials are also available separately. Educators interesting in learning more about this program should contact their EPS sales representative, telephone 800.225.5750, or visit www.epsbooks.com/MakingConnections.
